Saturday, April 27th **DATE CHANGE**
Save the date! Maya Lin School’s Spring Auction will be fun & fast and the theme will take us back to the 80’s! Thanks to everyone who voted on the event theme via the Google survey sent via last week’s room parent email. 80’s won the vote. Find your bright, bold and baggy (pants) to rock the night away with the ML community.
The event will take place on the evening of April 27th at the Eagles Hall in Alameda. More details on how to purchase tickets, etc. to come
Call for Donations: We need your help getting high-quality items for the auction! Do you – or someone you know – have items in that you could donate? If you have access to restaurants or organizations and businesses that donate experiences (museum passes, timeshares, etc.) please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org for a solicitation letter you can use. More details about donations to follow in future communications.
Call for Volunteers: the auction planning committee needs volunteer help to make this one of the best Maya Lin events of the year. We’ll be sending specific volunteer needs for this fun event in the coming weeks. In the meantime, please reach out to Mindy Rising email@example.com or to firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know you are interested in being a volunteer.
Childcare may also be provided for the event, so stay tuned for more info!
Come to the multipurpose room at 8am and enjoy some coffee, morning munchies, and meet other Maya Lin parents. Principal Goodwin comes to these as often as she can as well.
Come meet fellow Maya Lin parents, get involved in the community, and eat dinner. Can’t get there at the beginning of the meeting? Have to leave early? No problem! Come for what you can.
Food and babysitting for potty-trained children provided.
Games Night is a gathering of Maya Lin families in the multipurpose room. Bring the whole family and enjoy some board games with the community.
Walk and Roll to School Day is generally the first Wednesday of the month. Help us save the planet by not polluting the air that day. Did you know that 50% of the Bay Area’s greenhouse gas emissions are from cars? Let’s keep it cool (not hot) and walk or roll to school the first Wednesday of every month.
Here’s a handy map with safe routes to Maya Lin.
These meetings are usually the last Tuesday of the month in room 12. There is babysitting.
The Social Justice and Equity Committee aims to help the school community reach our school’s vision. We believe that when social justice and equity exist for our students and families, and when the community takes action to create a just and equitable environment, our students will exceed their potential, becoming changemakers who will positively impact our world.
